A cuff pouch has one failure mode that matters: the cuffs leaving the pouch when you did not intend it. Every design decision here follows from that.
Reinforced nylon is cut and stitched to the profile of a folded standard cuff, so the cuff seats in a fixed position rather than rattling loose. A pouch that lets the cuff move is a pouch that wears at the seams and announces itself when you walk.
The flap closes onto a post-and-socket snap. Unlike hook-and-loop, a snap does not lose grip as it fills with lint, does not soften in wet weather, and does not degrade over a season of daily cycles. It either latches or it does not — and you can feel which.

Unthread your duty belt at the nearest keeper, pass it through the loop on the back of the case, and re-secure. The loop takes standard duty belts and most trouser belts.
Common placements are rear strong side, rear weak side, or front weak side. Whichever you choose, keep it there — muscle memory under stress is built on the position never changing.
For chain cuffs, fold the bows together so the chain lies flat and the cuff sits as a compact rectangle. For hinge cuffs, close them flat. Insert with the keyholes facing the direction you want them on the draw.
Press until you feel and hear it seat. A snap that is only half-engaged is the one that opens on a fence line — make the confirmation part of your gear check.

Care
Five minutes of maintenance is the difference between a season and years.
Snap engaged and clean, stitching intact at the loop and flap, cuff seated, nothing fouling the closure. Ten seconds and it becomes automatic.
Rinse with cool water and air-dry out of direct sun. Heat is what stiffens nylon and ages thread — never a radiator, a hot car dashboard or a tumble dryer.
Grit in the socket is the only thing that reliably degrades a metal snap. A wipe and, occasionally, a brush is all it needs.
Check the belt loop stitching in particular. It carries the load, and it is where wear shows first.
Dry, flat, flap closed. Storing a damp nylon pouch closed in a locker is how mildew and odour start.
