Mechanically this is the 68-inch mat in a smaller footprint. The three jobs it does are the same, and worth understanding before you choose a size.
A walking pad puts its whole weight, plus yours, onto four small feet. On vinyl, laminate or engineered wood that is enough to dent the surface over months. A dense sheet distributes the force across the full footprint instead.
Dense PVC is viscoelastic: vibration entering it is partly lost internally as heat rather than passed on. That is why density matters more than softness for noise.
The noise that travels to a neighbour is low-frequency vibration coupling into joists, not the motor whine you hear. Decoupling the machine from the floor is what reduces it.
Underside grips the floor so the mat stays put; top grips the feet so the deck does not walk forward under load.
Sweat sits on top to be wiped away rather than soaking into the boards below.

Step by step, from unboxing to the first week of ownership.
Two to four hours at room temperature, longer if it arrived cold. The creases are designed to flatten out.
Grit under a mat is what scratches a floor. Vacuum or sweep first, every time you reposition it.
Measure your pad and centre it so there is mat on every side. That margin is what catches the machine if it creeps.
Never drag a loaded deck across the mat — it scuffs the surface and shifts the mat.
Adjust the feet after the pad is sitting on the mat, not before.
When the pad goes under the sofa, the mat folds into a slab. Do not roll it against the creases.

Care
Five minutes of maintenance is the difference between a season and years.
Damp cloth over the surface, thirty seconds. Dried sweat is what leaves a film.
Lift and sweep underneath — trapped grit is what scratches floors, not the mat.
Warm water, or warm water with washing-up liquid. No solvents, bleach or oil-based polishes.
Fold along the existing creases and store flat or on edge. Do not roll it.
Keep above freezing; PVC stiffens in the cold and is more likely to crack at a crease if folded cold.
